Alex Dean is an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, as well as the associate director of the Center for Embedded Systems Research, at North Carolina State University. He earned an M.S. and Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University. Between degrees, Alex worked at United Technologies Research Center, where he designed, analyzed, and implemented embedded network architectures for jet engines, elevators, cars, and building climate-control systems.
